How does the timer work?
Picking a task starts its timer, and the menu bar counts down the time left on its estimate. Press ⌘P to pause and resume, and ⌘C to finish. When you go back to a task, its timer picks up where it left off.
What happens near the end?
Section titled “What happens near the end?”When about a fifth of the estimate is left (between 2 and 5 minutes), Unospace sends a heads-up like “4 min left”. Estimates under 8 minutes skip it.
What happens when time runs out?
Section titled “What happens when time runs out?”Nothing stops. The timer keeps running into overtime, the menu bar shows the extra time as +m:ss, and you get one alert: “Past your 45m estimate”. On a Mac, the alert has buttons to add time or complete the task, and an Other… field where +20m adds time and 45m sets a new estimate.
How do I add time?
Section titled “How do I add time?”- ⌘= adds the amount set in Preferences → Adding Time (10 minutes unless you change it).
- The +10m, +15m and +30m buttons appear when you’re close to or past the estimate.
Added time counts from now when you’re already past the estimate, so +10m always means ten more minutes of work.
What if I step away?
Section titled “What if I step away?”With Preferences → Idle Detection on (the default), the timer pauses after 15 minutes without activity and resumes when you’re back. The time you were away isn’t counted. You can change the timeout.
After Unospace restarts, a timer that was running comes back paused.
Where does the actual time go?
Section titled “Where does the actual time go?”When you finish a task, the time you spent is saved with it. You can see estimate against actual in the history and in done.txt.
